KDG Construction Consulting is seeking an Electrical/IT Inspector to lead inspections of electrical and low-voltage systems within a high-priority, large-scale infrastructure modernization environment. Reporting to the Project Manager, this role is responsible for ensuring all work complies with approved plans, specifications, applicable codes, safety regulations, and agency requirements. The Electrical/IT Inspector will conduct inspections in public works rights-of-way, buildings, tenant improvement projects, and civil/electrical construction. This position requires a professional capable of verifying complex electrical systems while maintaining a strong health, safety, and environmental culture within an active, mission-critical environment.
Position Summary:
The Electrical/IT Inspector is responsible for performing inspections of electrical and low-voltage systems, including underground utilities, high-voltage gear, and fire life safety systems. This role requires a professional with a solid understanding of the materials and methods used in the installation of electrical components and local code requirements. The Electrical/IT Inspector will ensure that all construction work meets the prescriptive items required by the agency and will document daily progress to ensure project objectives and safety standards are preserved.
Key Responsibilities
Project & Design Management Support:
• Monitor all on-site field construction activities associated with electrical and IT systems, applying comprehensive knowledge of various disciplines and installation techniques.
• Ensure construction operations for electrical roughs and finishes follow approved work plans, including underground utilities, high-voltage gear, 400 HZ conduit racks, and grounding systems.
• Verify that all work is performed and inspected according to the latest versions of plans, specifications, submittals, and RFIs.
• Utilize electronic equipment and computer proficiency to review contract documents such as change orders, submittals, and RFIs with minimal supervision.
• Prepare clear and concise documents depicting daily progress of the work and assist in preparing monthly progress payment requests and tracking time and material work.
Construction & Operational Coordination:
• Conduct inspections in public works rights-of-way, buildings, and tenant improvement renovations to ensure compliance with local code requirements.
• Oversee the installation of low-voltage IT systems, including door card readers, security cameras, and communication P.A. systems.
• Participate in necessary coordination regarding electrical panel shutdowns and lock out tag out (LOTO) requirements to ensure safety and operational continuity.
• Monitor the installation of fire life and safety systems, including smoke and heat sensors and FM-200 installations.
• Verify and document job quantities and track changes to ensure project schedule and budget certainty.
Risk, Financial & Stakeholder Leadership:
• Lead stakeholder engagement by working well with others in large programs and remaining respectful at all times with colleagues and the construction community.
• Ensure the use of sound and safe construction practices, specifically regarding fall protection, harness use, and NFPA standards.
• Identify possible problem areas in electrical installations and take preventative action to ensure critical milestones are met.
• Maintain excellent working relationships with stakeholders and non-construction personnel geared toward open communication and mutual problem-solving.
Qualifications Required:
• 3+ years of experience performing electrical/IT inspections.
• 3+ years of experience performing electrical/IT inspections specifically for Building Construction.
• Current ICC Certification as a Commercial Electrical Inspector.
• Proof of NFPE-70E standards training (achieved within the last 3 years).
• For tasks on the Airfield: 3+ years of experience with airfield lighting is required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and electronic email functions.
• High school diploma (or equivalent).
• CAL OSHA-30 Certification.
• Training and certificate completion of NFPA-13.
• Certified in Fall Protection and Harness safety.

Anticipated Salary Range: $124,000.00 – $135,000.00 per year
