Office Engineer

KDG Construction Consulting is seeking a dynamic, technically savvy ​Office Engineer with two to five years of experience directly supporting construction projects related to infrastructure, transportation and/or aviation. The Office Engineer provides a broad spectrum of technical and administrative duties primarily associated with submittals and Request for Information (RFI) management as well as construction management support.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Project team in the receipt, distribution and maintenance of submittals. Perform construction contract correspondence, document and plan control function, input data into Prolog, and prepare management information status report, as required.
  • Update and maintain logs for submittals and RFIs in Prolog, the project information system.
  • Maintain project files and document / submittal management systems (hard and electronic copies). Work with the APM Developer to ensure the drawings are posted efficiently and in a timely manner. Distribute documents, submittals and RFIs for review; track and compile responses/review comments, obtain management approval and issue responses to APM Developer.  
  • Manipulate electronic files of various formats to create exhibits for presentations and meetings.
  • Complete other responsibilities and assist as assigned to support the project such as: attend and document project meetings (write agendas and minutes), perform expediting functions, and prepare and maintain an expediting log; etc.

Required Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of engineering experience. Experience supporting projects of similar size/scope/complexity is preferred.
  • B.S./B.A. in related field (Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, etc.) or equivalent work experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand technical and complicated construction program and the ability to communicate progress to both technical- and management level personnel.
  • Capability to assume additional responsibilities.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, with an ability to communicate complex issues to a non-technical audience.
  • Prolog experience is highly desirable.

About the Project: KDG provides construction management services to Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) to support its ongoing capital improvement program at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). KDG employees work alongside LAWA’s staff members to support the airport's construction program, which includes airside, landside, terminal, and infrastructure projects.
