APM (Automated People Mover) Office Engineer

KDG Construction Consulting is seeking an experienced APM (Automated People Mover) Office Engineer to support the Landside Access Modernization Program (LAMP) currently underway at the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The APM Office Engineer provides a broad spectrum of technical and administrative duties primarily associated with submittal and Request for Information (RFI) management as well as construction management support. Supports the project management team (PM, CM, Package Managers and Resident Engineers).

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the APM team in the receipt, distribution and maintenance of submittals. Perform construction contract correspondence, document and plan control function, input data into Prolog, and prepare management information status report, as required
  • Update and maintain logs for submittals and RFIs in Prolog, the project information system
  • Maintain project files and document / submittal management systems (hard and electronic copies). Communicate with the APM Design/Builder to make the posted drawings more efficient and timely
  • Distribute documents, submittals and RFIs for review; track and compile responses/review comments, obtain management approval and issue responses to APM Design/Builder
  • Manipulate electronic files of various formats to create exhibits for presentations and meetings
  • Complete other responsibilities and assist as assigned to support the project such as: attend and document project meetings (write agendas and minutes), perform expediting functions, and prepare and maintain an expediting log; etc.

Required Experience and Qualifications

  • Three to five years of engineering experience. Experience supporting projects of similar size/scope/complexity is preferred
  • BS/BA in related field (Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, etc.) or equivalent work experience
  • Demonstrated ability to understand technical and complicated construction program and the ability to communicate progress to both technical- and management level personnel
  • Capability to assume additional responsibilities
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, with an ability to communicate complex issues to a non-technical audience
  • Prolog experience is highly desirable
