Field Engineer

KDG Construction Consulting is continuously on the lookout for great talent to join our growing team of construction management professionals! We are building our dynamic group of mid-level to seasoned construction management and support staff for several upcoming projects in Seattle.  

As part of this endeavor, we are searching for a seasoned Field Engineer with airport project experience to support a large construction program within the passenger airport sector. Experience with scheduling, logistics and project coordination supporting airside/landside terminal-related construction projects is required.  

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Investigate field conditions, review and process all Requests for Information (RFIs), Change Directives, submittals and contractor change requests.
  • Update and maintain logs for all RFIs, shop drawings, change directives, change requests, inspection memos, notices of non-compliance, safety notices and all construction correspondence.
  • Coordinate with contractor's staff to monitor work activities. 
  • Review and process all contractor’s required project plans and submittals, including  safety plan, quality control plan, and noise control plan.
  • Coordinate and administer all construction-related meetings, including weekly progress meetings, planning meetings, and pre-construction meetings.
  • Provide project schedule review (baseline and weekly progress schedule) for constructability and compliance with all project requirements.
  • Coordinate with all affected utility companies and federal agencies.
  • Serve as a liaison between project stakeholders.
  • Assist in the processing of pay requests with the Inspection team and contractor.
  • Prepare all required construction management documentation.
  • Maintain a library of project photos, as required to document problem areas or issues.
  • Review progress of Contractors’ as-built drawings and provide applicable comments.
  • Coordinate with Inspection and Contractor on developing and completing final punch list.
  • Develop and coordinate all technical manuals, warranties and other deliverables for project close-out.

Required Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications:

  • Five to 10 years of engineering experience with three to five years directly supporting an active construction project, preferably on projects delivered via Design-Build or alternative project delivery methods.
  • B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management or related field is preferred.
  • State of California Professional Engineer's (P.E.) license is preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of FAA Standards and requirements with technical expertise in construction and construction management of airfield pavements.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand technical and complicated aviation construction programs.
  • Proven accuracy, reliability and success in previous roles.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, with an ability to communicate complex issues to a non-technical audience.
