Instrument Technician

KDG Construction Consulting is seeking a motivated Field Instrument Technician to support a long-term wastewater control system project in Los Angeles. The Technician will be responsible for performing field verifications to assure the proper documentation of the current instrumentation and controls systems installed throughout the plant. The Technician will work closely with Project Engineer and Project Managers to review and interpret schematics, perform operational tests and fault diagnostics and provide support during system cutover and commissioning.

Essential Duties:

  • Perform field verification necessary to assure the proper documentation of the current instrumentation and control systems installed on the plant.
  • Read and interpret analog equipment schematics, P&ID's, analog system network diagrams, and electrical wiring diagrams.
  • Perform operational systems tests and fault diagnostics to identify and correct electrical, and pneumatic analog loop controls.
  • Read and interpret gauges, and other instruments.
  • Provide Support during Cut over/Field Commissioning.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • High school diploma and at least 2 years of related work experience required.
  • Experience with Instrumentation and Controls design preferred.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or MS Visio is a big plus.
  • Previous experience on a related wastewater/water construction project desirable.
  • Knowledge of Safety practices necessary for the work required.
  • Self-motivated and independent worker.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to interact with all levels of management.
  • Basic understanding of power distribution and control logic.
