Airport Field Engineer

KDG Construction Consulting is seeking three experienced Field Engineers with previous experience in aviation related projects. The Field Engineers will provide a broad spectrum of technical, field and administrative duties associated with construction management. This position will support the utilities project management team and work with the project controls group to ensure timely and accurate reporting. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Investigate field conditions, review requests for information (RFIs), change directives (CDs), submittals, contractor change requests, etc.
  • Coordinate and administer construction related meetings including weekly progress meetings, pre-activity meetings, pre-construction meeting and all others as required (draft and distribute minutes)
  • Work with project scheduler and management team to review Project schedules for constructability and compliance with all project requirements.
  • Coordination of field activities with stakeholders including: LAWA Airport staff; City of Los Angeles departments; LAWA Police and LAPD; other projects; affected utility companies such as LADWP; private property owners; and other stakeholders.
  • Take project photos as required to document problem areas, or other pertinent locations where disputed items may occur.
  • Inspect construction operations and make recommendations to ensure that quality control requirements are maintained.
  • Track daily quantities for work performed and perform quantity take-offs as required.
  • Coordinate with Contractor and Inspectors to assist as required with progress payment quantity verification.
  • Assist as required with the change order process, including providing input on draft and final documents.
  • Assist as required with the close out process including as-built drawings, punch list, technical manuals, warranties and other close out deliverables and documentation.

Require Qualification and Experience:

  • 5 to 10 years of field engineering experience with three to five years directly supporting similar capital public works projects
  • BS in engineering related (Construction Management, Civil Engineering, etc.) or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) by CMAA is preferable.
  • State of California Professional Engineer's license is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand technical and compex construction program and the ability to communicate progress to technical and management personnel.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office is required and Prolog experience is highly desirable.
