Airport Project Manager

KDG Construction Consulting is seeking an experienced Project Manager (PM) with previous experience in aviation related projects. The Project Manager is responsible for directing and mentoring on-site staff.  The position requires construction project management acumen and must demonstrate strong leadership, organizational and time management skills, as well as have strong communication and client service skills.

The ideal candidate will be a Professional Engineer (PE) with demonstrated success overseeing aviation projects in an Owner’s Representative capacity. 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and manage scope to meet project goals and objectives
  • Plan and define program goals and devise methods to accomplish them
  • Act as the representative with contractor and stakeholders during the program execution 
  • Negotiate changes to the scope of work with the contractors 
  • Participate in negotiations with regulatory agencies and in public meetings in support of the owner, as necessary
  • Oversee establishment of the Project Management Plan
  • Establish the program requirements for all areas of the project, and monitor the draft and final deliverables for adherence to these criteria
  • Plan, direct, supervise and control the execution of all technical and fiscal and administrative functions of the assigned project
  • Field responsibilities may include labor relations, procurement and payment to contractors and consultants
  • Work with other team members to follow budget, schedules and plan for all project elements 
  • Monitor and report to management on the progress of all project activity within the program, including significant milestones, and any conditions, which would affect project cost or schedule 
  • Establish regular meetings to review project status and formulate action items

Required Qualifications and Experience: 

  • 15+ years of aviation project experience, including terminal projects valued over $10 million 
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related field 
  • Professional Registration or Certification is preferred
  • Strong leadership, problem solving and project finance skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and a thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations required
  • Demonstrated ability to understand technical and complicated construction program and the ability to communicate progress to both technical- and management-level personnel
