Office Engineer

KDG Construction Consulting is seeking a dynamic, technically savvy Office Engineer II with five to ten years of experience directly supporting complex construction projects related to infrastructure, transportation and/or aviation. The Office Engineer will be responsible for providing a broad spectrum of technical and administrative support to the construction management team, with an emphasis on managing the submittal and Request for Information (RFI) management. 

About the Project: KDG provides construction management services to Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) to support its ongoing capital improvement program at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). KDG employees work alongside LAWA’s staff members to support the airport's construction program, which includes airside, landside, terminal, and infrastructure projects. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the PM and project team in the receipt, distribution and maintenance of submittals, 
  • Perform construction contract correspondence, document and plan control function, input data into Prolog, and prepare management information status reports, as required
  • Update and maintain logs for submittals and RFIs in the document management system (Prolog)
  • Distribute documents, submittals and RFIs for review; track and compile responses/review comments, obtain management approval and issue responses to Design-Build team
  • Provide initial technical review of RFI and submittals for conformance to project requirements. Manage the Request for Information (RFI) process
  • Manage the submittal, design bulletin, and plan revision process
  • Proactively assist the team in responding to RFI’s, submittals and other project correspondence
  • Manipulate electronic files of various formats to create exhibits for presentations and meetings
  • Attend and document project meetings and prepare minutes.

Required Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years of experience in a design or construction support role is required, Five to eight years of similar engineering experience on a large construction program is preferred.
  • BS/BA in related field (Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, etc) 
  • Demonstrated ability to read, understand, and interpret construction design drawings and read and understand construction specifications
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate progress to both technical and non-technical management level personnel
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated success on the job as evidenced by satisfactory performance, acceptance of responsibility, and growth in previous positions.
